HaloQR is an advertising-supported free Android app for scanning, reviewing, creating, and storing QR codes and barcodes. Core code recognition, link-structure checks, and scan history are designed to operate on your device.
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how HaloQR (“HaloQR,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you use the HaloQR: QR & Barcode Scanner mobile application, use our website, or contact us.
By using HaloQR, you acknowledge the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.
2. Information and data we handle
Scan and creation content
HaloQR processes camera frames and images you explicitly select to recognize QR codes and barcodes. It also processes information you enter when creating a code, such as a website address, text, Wi-Fi details, or contact details. This processing is designed to occur on your device. We do not operate a HaloQR server that receives your scan content or local scan history.
Local history and preferences
If scan history is enabled, scanned and created records are stored locally on your device. App settings—such as language, theme, feedback, and history preferences—are also stored locally. You can delete records or clear history in the app. Removing the app may remove locally stored app data, subject to your device and backup settings.
Link checks
HaloQR may examine the structure of a scanned link on your device—for example, its protocol, domain format, or other visible patterns—to show caution messages. This is not a guarantee that a link is safe, and it is not a substitute for security software or your own judgment.
Website and communications
If you email us, we receive the information you choose to provide, such as your email address, message, and attachments. Our hosting provider may automatically process standard technical logs, such as IP address, browser type, requested page, timestamp, and security events, to deliver and protect the website.
3. Device permissions and system features
- Camera: used for live QR code and barcode recognition. HaloQR does not need to save camera frames to your history unless you take a separate action offered by your device or app.
- Photos or selected media: HaloQR uses the Android system photo picker so you can choose a specific image for scanning. The app is designed not to request broad, ongoing access to your photo library for this feature.
- Vibration and audio: used for optional scan feedback, according to your settings and device controls.
- Internet and external apps: used when you choose to open a link, search a barcode, share content, contact support, view this policy, or interact with advertising services. The destination app or website applies its own privacy policy.
Android controls permissions. You can review or withdraw available permissions in system settings, although some features may then stop working.
4. Advertising and related data practices
HaloQR is an advertising-supported free app. Advertising services can process device and usage data to provide, measure, limit, and protect ads.
Depending on the advertising technology and consent choices available in your region, advertising providers can process information such as:
- advertising identifiers and app-instance identifiers;
- IP address, approximate location inferred from IP, device model, operating system, language, and network information;
- ad impressions, clicks, interactions, frequency, diagnostics, and fraud-prevention signals; and
- consent status and privacy choices.
Where required, HaloQR or its advertising provider will request consent or offer privacy controls before using data for personalized advertising. If you do not consent to personalized ads, you may receive non-personalized or limited ads. You can also manage advertising and privacy controls through your Android or Google settings.
Advertising providers act under their own terms and privacy policies. Their processing can vary by location, device settings, consent, and the provider used in the distributed version of the app.
6. Data retention
Local scan and creation history remains on your device until you delete it, clear app data, uninstall the app, or your device removes it. HaloQR may automatically limit ordinary local history while preserving items you mark as favorites. Support emails are retained only as long as reasonably needed to respond, maintain records, resolve disputes, or meet legal obligations. Website logs and advertising data are retained by the relevant providers under their own retention policies.
7. Security
We use reasonable measures appropriate to the nature of the app and information handled. However, no device, transmission, storage system, or online service is completely secure. Keep your device protected and review scanned destinations before opening them.
8. Your choices and rights
You can control much of HaloQR directly:
- turn off the saving of new history;
- delete individual records or clear local history;
- change or revoke device permissions in Android settings;
- manage advertising preferences, consent, or advertising identifiers through available in-app, Android, or Google controls; and
- choose not to open a scanned destination or send content to another service.
Depending on where you live, you may have legal rights relating to personal information, including access, deletion, correction, objection, restriction, or withdrawal of consent. To make a request concerning information we control, email us. We may need to verify your request. For data controlled independently by an advertising, hosting, or destination provider, contact that provider directly.
9. Children’s privacy
HaloQR is a general-audience utility and is not directed to children under 13, or the minimum digital-consent age applicable in their country. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through a HaloQR account because the app does not require an account. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us by email or another direct channel, contact us so we can review and delete it when appropriate.
10. International use
HaloQR is offered to users in multiple countries. Advertising, hosting, and communications providers may process information in countries other than yours. Where required, relevant providers use safeguards for international data transfers under applicable law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in HaloQR, providers, law, or our practices. We will post the revised policy on this page and update the “Last updated” date. Material changes may also be communicated in the app when appropriate.
